Knee pain: Depending on cause & severity, one may be prescribed otc NSAID or rx narcotic analgesic. If structural damage is suspected, an MRI or arthroscopy may be used for evaluation. Further treatment depends on the findings. For chronic knee pain, some docs inject the knee with a corticosteroid, a powerful anti-inflammatory. If major structural damage is found, surgery may be indicated.
