See your surgeon: It is better to have the surgeon take a look at it. There might be an edge of bone or a tiny piece of broken tooth poking though, causing the irritation. If so, topical ointments will not solve the problem.

Sounds like: Some aphthous ulcers. Don't know what bonjela is, but if its a topical anesthetic it will give you temporary relief. They are self limiting and generally go away within 10-14 days. Consult with your dentist for other options. Hope this helps.
