A member asked:

Why numbness of the feet could result as one of the chronic complications of uncontrolled hyperglycemia?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Diabetic neuropathy: High uncontrolled blood sugars cause damage to the micro vasculature to the nerves. This decreased blood flow to the nerves damages them causing the sensation of numbness and tingling. As the damage worsens you get chronic pain in the nerve distribution.
