Large bowel dries: The segments of bowel do different things. Small bowel releases enzymes and breaks food down, and large bowel absorbs nutrients. So, a complete colectomy leads mostly to largely liquid stool.

If patient had total colectomy with Ileostomy placement, can they have a surgical procedure involving ileum to sigmoid/left colon several yrs later.
