Diarrhea: Diarrhea after subtotal collecting is common. To find this three loose bowel movements per day. This can be disabling in the elderly especially if they have mobility issues. this often improves after the first year post operatively. Would see a colorectal surgeon to make sure there's no narrowing where the bowel is spliced together. If there is no structural abnormality sometimes meds help

Colon resection w/9 wk ileostomy. 6 mos post reversal. Surgeon plenty of bowel to function normal by now 2 day bowel cycle: max Metamucil daily, clustering bulky stools until diarrhea over hours, then Imodium (every 2 days) . How do i get normal?
