There isn't a : Specific lab test for depression. However, many doctors may check for thyroid function at a minimum. They may also check things like carnitine or vitamin d level, testosterone level & sometimes get viral titers. Depression is diagnosed by the medical history. There is not a diagnostic blood test for depression.
