Give me a hint. what kind of hassle am i facing if doc suspects chronic liver disease? what is required to diagnose?

Depends: Your doctor will choose a diagnostic test based upon what he or she thinks the diagnosis is. For example, if they suspect viral hepatitis, a simple blood test will suffice. Sometimes a needle biopsy may be needed. Ouch!
