Unclear: Some feel that the paleo diet is healthier than others because it eliminates dairy, grains, sugar, legumes, potatoes, processed oils, and any foods that were grown after agriculture started. It focuses on eating foods that could be hunted, fished, and gathered during the paleo era (meat, fish, shellfish, eggs, tree nuts, vegetables, roots, fruits, and berries). Could help teens avoid alcohol too.

No processed food: One advantage of the paleo diet, is there is no processed food, no sugar drinks, It is the way our ancestors ate years ago before modern factories were able to mass produce food and strip them of their nutrients. The lesson is- fruits and vegetables in their natural form are nutrient dense. Avoiding sugar and processed foods is good for the body.

Many advantages: Many things such as gut issues (like IBS), metabolic advantages (weight loss, avoidance of diabetes and the resulting increased risk of heart attack, stroke), better sleep, improvements in subjective ratings of depression and anxiety. Check out "Grain Brain", "Wheat Belly", and "Why We Get Fat" for some great resources.
