A member asked:

The side effects of taking daily lysine, like kidney failure and nephritis, how often they occur, what can i do not to suffer this consecuences?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Why lysine?: Good sources of lysine are high-protein foods such as eggs, red meat, lamb, pork, and poultry, soy, beans and peas, cheese and fish such as cod and sardines. There has been a case report of fanconi's syndrome due to long term use of high dose lysine, but no other renal impairment. Not recommended to be taken if you already have renal impairment. Stop taking supplements and eat a healthy diet.
