Talk to your doctor: The best advice repeatedly given out on this website is talk to your doctor or seek medical care, as it is impossible for you to convey all the important details or the physicians here to explain all the nuances in 400characters or less. That being said, if you have no or very low proteinuria, and you don't get higher blood pressure as one of many side effects of anabolic steroids, possibly ok.

I agree: We have no western physiological reason to believe it would make it worse but if one has IgA nephritis one needs to be taking care of one's health in general. I don't know if taking Anabolic steroids fits. In chinese medicine Anabolic steroids have "kidney yang" energy and since nephritis reflects to much yang in the kidneys one would be adding fire to fire. Not generally recommended.
