Mucus: Mucinex (guaifenesin) thins the mucus in the throat and soothes the discomfort from it but does not solve the problem. You may benefit from a nasal spray better. Advair is for asthma and in some uncontrolled asthma can cause excess mucus in the throat and chest. An allergist can help you control your symptoms.
