Treat it: Overactive thyroid is more dangerous than underactive thyroid. You need to slow down the thyroid through 1)medication to decrease thyroid production (methimazole, ptu), 2)radioactive iodine ablation, or 3)surgery. Your doctor should walk you through these steps and allow you to pick the best choice for you. It's not the same for everybody.
