how to get the correct diagnosis for thyroidism?
1 doctor answer • 2 doctors weighed in

Dr. Myron Arlen answered
Surgical Oncology 64 years experience
Scan and biopsy: If the patient is sweaty and losing weight hyperthyroidism may be present. If putting on weight and swelling present pretibially, myxedema may be developing. Thyroxin levels in the system will indicate hyper or hypothyroidism.
