What are the consequences of brown recluse spider bite in a child?

Tissue death: Brown recluse venom causes the tissue it touches to die, resulting first in the classic "red, white, and blue" sore, and then a painful ulceration of the skin. This can be very serious. See a doctor right away.

Can be severe: This spider bite can produce significant tissue damage and require surgical removal of the affected areas. It is a local phenomenon, however, and should not produce systemic symptoms unless the area becomes secondarily infected. See a good general surgeon.
