CT radiation has: Low risk of future cancer, MRI carries no risk since it does not use ionizing radiation. What exactly is to be scanned? Please discuss your concerns with your doctor. Ask about each test, why should it be done, and why every 6 months. Ask for the medical research behind the decision to order the tests. Is there something unique about your situation that benefits from close followup.

Different uses: The MRI is probably of the breasts. The ct is probably of the abdomen and pelvis to evaluate for metastatic disease.

Is an emg test necessary if the MRI shows c4, C5 and C6 nerves pinched. Have c4, C5 and C6 ruptured disc in neck with C4 C5 and C6 pinched nerves on right side and C6 nerve pinched on left side. Have had bone scan, and CT and now doctor is wanting emg.
Stenosis of the neck had neck pain. Doctor did cat scan or MRI not sure which one. Scan showed 3 of the disks wirh severe stenosis the others mild. Scan was sent to neurosugeon. He said he could not operate, gave no reason. Was told to see pain doctor.
