In fact a new guideline suggests focusing on losing weight for mild sleep apnea rather than jumping directly to cpap. Of course, that's a decision between you & your sleep specialist. Many reasons to lose weight besides sleep apnea. Don't be in a rush to lose at once. Aim for loss of 1-2#/wk.

Probably: Losing the weight will definitely help. It may not solve all of your sleep apnea problems but it would definitely be a good start. Get tested again after you lose the weight.

Losing weight helps: You may get second opinion and have proper oral appliance made to replace your CPAP if you can not tolerate the mask.
