Chest pain: "cardiospasm" usually refers to spasm of the esophagus, which can produce chest pain very similar to the pain of a heart attack. It is often a diagnosis only made when heart attack has been ruled out by testing. Clues can be trouble swallowing or relation of the pain to meals. It is wiser to be safe than sorry and be checked promptly.

Achalasia : The disease is known as achalasia, where the esophagus doesn't push the food down in to the stomach. Symptoms are classically the sensation that food is stuck in the chest.
