Are the symptoms of achalasia and thyroid connected?

No: Achalasia is a disease related to the nervous system that coordinates the esophagus. There is no known association between this and thyroid disease. There may be some sort of autoimmune disorder that could connect the two, but I am not aware that that connection has ever been made.
