Benzos: They are both anxiolytics of the benzodiazepine group. Ativan (lorazepam) is more potent & has short half-life. Valium is much longer-acting. Both are addictive & only recommended for short-term use.

Valium and Lorazapam: Both valium and lorazapam are in the class of bbnzodiazepines. Both help with anxiety and panic disorder. The effect of valium lasts for 8 hours whereas effect of lorazapam lasts for 6 hours.
