Counteraction: Usually valium is prescribed for patients that are anxious. It has a depressive action on the central nervous system. The goal of the medication is to relax and calm a patient prior to treatment. Caffeine has an opposite action and stimulates the central nervous system. This will excite you and can make you more anxious. So you would not want to take both of these medications at the same time!

Caffeine: It would reverse some of sedative effect of valium. Recommend waiting till next morning when soreness is down, unless your dentist recommended otherwise.
