HIV is Hard to Get: Nope. This is the wrong test if you need to know about an exposure that happened recently. The regular antibody test can take three to six months after exposure to be accurate. At this point your physician should be doing the better and more accurate HIV RNA pcr test. This test will be accurate from 21 days post exposure.

Less likely: But you should continue to be retested for at least 6 months. Test at 3 and 6 months. Or if you want to be sure immediately you can have an RNA pcr done which will tell you immediately whether there is any infection, but it is $$$$. The overwhelming chances are that if you were tested with latest technology that you are negative. Be careful out there.
