A member asked:

Why is sugar considered an allergic food for someone whose parents had type two diabetes?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sugar isn't: Sugar is not an allergen. Diabetes is a condition when the body cannot produce enough insulin. Insulin is needed to move sugars into the cells necessary for metabolism. Type ii diabetes is most often associated with obesity.
