Better talk: You better talk to your surgeon and have a complete understanding of this before the surgery. This is a must so that you are making an informed decision. There is much to discuss.

Swelling: Surgery on the throat may result in massive swelling. Your surgeon will provide you with instructions to minimize the swelling and pain; these instructions should be followed closely. It is likely that medications will be administered during surgery to treat this as well as pain medications prescribed postoperatively. A mechanical soft diet is also likely to advised. Take it easy for 10 days.
