No heat this summer: Hot soaks will not help kill bacteria and could possibly make the inflammation worse. Elevate your arm, pad your elbow and take all of your antibiotics. If not getting better or getting worse make sure to get rechecked.

Not exactly: This one really depends as you can have either bursitis (non infected), bursitis with cellulitis (superficial skin infection), or septic bursitis (infected bursal tissue). Typically, a run of the mill bursitis doesnt require antibiotics. For a truly infected bursa this usually warrants drainage and antibiotics. As for the hot water, not sure what this is to accomplish.
