I have an ulcer and had the breathing test for h. pylori bacteria. will it show negative if i had taken an antacid zantac (ranitidine) and maalox that morning?

It may: Zantac (ranitidine) has been shown to affect breath h.Pylori test, although, not to the same degree as proton pump inhibitors (prilosec, Prevacid and their ilk). Zantac (ranitidine), pepcid, tagamet must be withheld for at least 48-72 hours prior to that that. Maalox is ok to take.
