A member asked:

How should a runner cure shin splints, while still running a reduced-mileage training schedule?

Yes: unfortunately shin splints are difficult to "cure". Reduce running distance and also avoid running hills. Going up and down really applies a lot of pressure on the shins and increases the shin splints occurrence. Also see a podiatrist that can make you orthotic that will help you with running and shin splits.

Stop running: The best cure for shin splints is stop what is causing it, in this case running.
