A member asked:

I have ulcerative colitis, need help please?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See below: Have a GI doctor who follows you regularly. Chronic disease as well as acute attacks are usually managed with medications. Avoid foods that make your symptoms worse as well as nsaids (e.g. Ibuprofen - they increase your risk of bleeding). You will need surveillance colonoscopies because ulcerative colitis increases risk of developing colon cancer. The disease can be cured by surgery (last resort).
