???: This sounds like severe reflux. But you mention this happened only after a cholecystectomy with complications. I'd follow up with the surgeon who preformed the surgery and/or managed your complications. Really need to be evaluated by a physician as specific information from your medical record and/or further workup is needed.

Possible thrush: I agree with dr. Malkin that further history may prove valuable, & that your surgeon should be made aware of your post-operative symptoms, as well as that a trial of acid suppression medicine may at least be called for. Ask your doctor to also consider oral & esophageal thrush (a fungal infection that sometimes presents in patients who are medically compromised) that can present as you describe.
