Counseling helps: I would suggest scheduling with a trained therapist. The treatments for anxiety are usually on the order of 6-12 visits where active techniques are practiced and rehearsed to give you more control over your anxiety.

It is treatable : You need to work with a psychiatrist. Panic attack is a serious condition. The md can prescribe a fast acting anti-anxiety medication that can stop the panic attack when it happens. Also, you may consider a long term anti-anxiety medication . Cognitive behavior therapy is very effective, usually working better with the medication management. Psychodynamic psychotherapy will also help long term.
