Lung inflammation: Asthma is ongoing inflammation of the lung with twitchy airways, mucus/swelling and constriction of the smaller airways in the lungs. There are many triggers and it is more common in people with allergies. The symptoms are recurrent cough, wheeze, chest tightness or shortness of breath, especially at night, with exercise, during colds/sinus infections and allergy exposures.
