A member asked:

How does someone get diagnosed with asthma?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

SOB & PFT: Symptoms of asthma would include episodic shortness of breath. Sometimes your shortness of breath ("SOB" I wasn't being insulting) is triggered by an allergen or inhaled toxin or irritant. The test of choice to ask for would be a pulmonary function test with a methacholine challenge, which would help document the reversibility that is a hallmark of asthma.
