Depends: Any of the services will expect an active duty member to be healthy enough to do his/her job in whatever setting it requires. The service would never want to put other members at risk if a known medical impairment would weaken a pivotal unit member. If asthma is stable and the members specialty designation does not require perfect health, it may not seek discharge. Best you ask the HR personnel.
