Alternate: Diamox (acetazolamide) is standard for preventing altitude sickness but only needs to be taken for 1 day before travel & a few days after. Talk to your doc but, if your BP is controlled on hct, your simplest option is just to skip it while taking Diamox (acetazolamide) (also a diuretic). Make sure your potassium level is not low from the diuretics, becuse both low potassium & altitude can cause extra heartbeats.

Diamox (acetazolamide): Diamox (acetazolamide) may not increase the diuresis with the hct and as such may be able to be taken without stopping the hct. Everybody doesn't need Diamox (acetazolamide) tho' it does help with altitude sickness and substituting it for hct is also an option. You should discuss with your doc to be sure the altitude at lhasa is ok for you.
