Ovarian cyst: Ovarian cysts that bleed or rupture can cause significant pain that may take a while to resolve. There are other problems that can cause cause lower abdominal pain such as infection. When one has persistent severe pain it is best to be seen for a complete evaluation by a gynecologist.
