Source of blood loss: If you have heavy bleeding during menses, that would be the most likely cause. If not, a gastroenterology consult for colonoscopy and upper endoscopy should be done to check for intestinal source of blood loss. If those are ok, may be an issue with iron absorption. Also, once iron is low it takes about 6 months of iron supplementation (150mg elemental iron) to replace. May need a hematologist.
