The haemogoblin level for my 9,5 months old baby is 11. is this number satisfying or is he anemic ? should i give him iron supplement ? his doctor advise 0,6ml of iron drops daily. is it necessary ? thank you.

For a baby under 10: months, a value of 11g is quite normal and requires no intervention. if you are breast feeding be sure to continue your prenatal vitamins and iron supplements. Low normal: With all tests there is a range of what might be considered normal.I look at this as being at the lower end of the normal range.The iron supplement at that age is fine in that amount and provides assurance that iron deficiency will not limit baby's growth.That said, you can get iron in many cereals, legumes and meats.
