In addition to my prev question about my 2 1/2 yr olds strep, is there usually more testing done in addition to just looking in the mouth to say strep?

Rapid strep test : As i mentioned, we can use http://www.Mdcalc.Com/modified-centor-score-for-strep-pharyngitis/ to determine whether to run rapid strep test or even traditional throat culture in order to prove you have (he has) "strep". Both tests are performed via swabbing back of throat. Depending upon score, we might just look & make diagnosis but more often, we need testing to prove one way or another.
