Yes: Both can happen at the same time in a patient. However, hfm can cause mouth blistering & a red throat & some kids can have strep in their throat as a non-disease. Carrier estimates run from 4% in the summer to 20% in the winter.A strep test only confirms the germ is there, not that it is making a kid ill.
