See a doctor: What you have written does not make a lot of sense, particularly from a pet scan. See a doctor, not a nurse practitioner (who may be very good at minor problems). This needs a cardiologist evaluation. Please do this soon. Best wishes for a rapid successful outcome.

Aortic valve: Is a door and should open widely and close securely. If it is leaking-called aortic regurgitation that is an issue. Aortic root dilation -expansion to the point of aneurysm is possible and associated . A ct scan can show the expansion. Echocardiogram is better to, demonstrate narrowing or valve leakage. Seek a cardiologist or cardiovascular surgical opinion.

This does not make: Sense - a pet scan cannot image heart valves. I advise you to ask specific questions of your np and get the answers in writing. Reading between the lines, it appears you have an aneurysm measuring 4.8 cm, probably of your aorta, and i suspect the ascending aorta. That could effect your aortic valve, a heart valve that allows blood into the aorta to flow to the rest of your body.
