Deep venous clot: A venous clot can damage the delicate valves inside the vein that allow for one way flow back to the heart. Your husband will need blood thinners to address the clot and an assessment of his risk for a second clot. He might also benefit from compression devices to help control leg swelling associated with damaged vein valves. Okay to see your doc or a vein specialist.

Maybe: I agree with dr. Berg. Your husband should see a vein specialist, if he hasn't already. Depending on where the clot was (is) and where the valve damage is, there a number of treatment possibilities. A venous evaluation with duplex ultrasound will be very helpful. More testing might need to be done too but there is good reason to be optimistic..
