Dr. Pamela Pappas answered

Specializes in Psychiatry

Begin w/psychiatrist: Working with the impact of such experiences on you may require some time, and it needs to be done gently. Often people benefit from combining psychotherapy with medications for strong anxiety, insomnia, nightmares, and depression symptoms. I suggest starting with a full evaluation with a psychiatrist, who can treat you & suggest skilled psychologists/other therapists to work with too.
