Not necessarily: Some people may have endogenous depression - they might develop depression even without a significant life stressor. Take care.

Different people: React to traumatic events differently. Depression is one possible reaction, anxiety or PTSD are others. If you were traumatized it makes sense to speak with a psychologist and process the trauma.

Other reasons also: Depression can result from trauma (exogenous or "outside" depression) or just occur (endogenous" or "inside" depression). Some people or families seem more prone to depression. If you have symptoms of depression please seek care as there are many effective ways to deal with this issue.
