i've just had my 4 wisdom teeth out, worried about getting a dry socket. how to prevent this?

Dry Socket Symptoms: Normal to feel some pain & discomfort after extraction, however...If on 3-4th day after the procedure the pain increases substantially & character of pain changes (throbbing more, radiating more to ear & temple) & if the pain medicine that you were taking is now grossly inadequate, then fibrinolytic alveolitis - is high on list of possibilities. Dressings exist & help immensely.

Just keep everything: As clean as you can and follow your dentists recommendations. Hopefully everything will be fine. There is no way to definitively predict a dry socket occurrence but following post op instructions closely and keeping the area as clean as possible is the best tag you can do for yourself. Obviously no alcohol or smoking. Hope this helps.
