Mucormycosis: Rhinoorbitocerebral mucromycosis (most common type) usually presents as acute sinusitis with fever, nasal congestion, purulent nasal discharge, sinus pain, and headache. Spread to adjacent structures, such as the palate, orbit, and brain, usually progresses quickly. Other signs and symptoms include facial swelling, nasal ulceration, decreased vision, and ophthalmoplegia (eye movement problem).

It can.: Mucormycosis can start wi sinus infection w nasal congestion & discharge, headache & fever. Sinus may be red & tender. Necrosis of palate, nasal septum & perinasal swelling. If eyes are involved may develop double or blurred vision, proptosis, periorbital edema & paralysis of eye muscles. Infection can spread to lungs, GI tract or brain.
