Ovulation: That is a very good question. As you know, many people begin ovulating while they are lactating. That is what people infected pregnant while breast-feeding. Usually, however, it will take 3 to 6 months post-cessation of lactation to get the ovaries to start working again. Because ur 38 years old i would recommend very aggressive approach to ensure that you do not have some other issue lurking. I hope this is helpful.

No telling: Usually, most women start their periods while their nursing in the first year. Only intensive, around the clock nursing, has been shown to be protective against getting pregnant. Occasionally, women with less intensive nursing may go without periods for longer, but there's no telling when you start ovulating. Staring periods will the indicator of ovulation.

6 months: Most women will start ovulating in 6 months after stopping nursing. Since it has been greater than 12 months, your doctor can run some tests to see what is going on.
