A member asked:

Intense finger pain caused by typing. onset is immediate and symptoms have persisted for a year+. rest has not helped. cannot type. what could it be?

An isolated finger -: Pain could be due to fracture from an injury to it, or could be a cyst (weakness) of the bone which could fracture without any specific injury to it. Consult your orthopod or a hand surgeon for evaluation.

See details: There are be several causes including arthritis, tendinitis or a soft tissue injury. A fracture is less likely. See a hand specialist if possible. If there is doubt, an MRI of the finger can be very valuable.
