Could be: Could be. However, the most common cause of gum bleeding is inflammation of the gum itself- i.e. Gingivitis. Other conditions that decrease platelet level or affect clotting system also can give you bleeding in the gum. Oral hygiene is important. See your dentist for dental/gum cleaning. However, if bleeding is excessive , you will need to see your primary doctor or perhaps a hematologist.

Determine Cause: How old are you? How is your general health? Smoker? Last visit to a dentist for a general check up and cleaning? If it has been more than six months, it's time to call for an appointment.

Yes, but: Any unfounded bleeding is something that requires treatment. Most common cause is gum disease, which is entirely reversible in it's earliest stages. See your Dentist or gum/bone specialist, a Periodontist first. If not a gum infection issue your Dentist will refer you on to the appropriate health care provider for additional care.
