Wellbutrin (bupropion): I start patients on the slow release as the dose is titrated upward. Once at the final dose- i change to the extended release form. The immediate release form is not the safest (regarding potential side effects). The brain does not like feeling like a ping pong ball - thus the longest release form makes it the happiest. It is also easier to remember to take once a day medication.
