Maybe: The insurance benefit varies so depending on what type of coverage you have your insurance company may or may not cover all or some of this procedure. You need to see an oral surgeon and have them look in to your benefits.

Hopefully: Your dental insurance or medical or both may or may not cover this procedure. It is best for you to contact your insurance companies directly on your own, and when you find a surgeon, who will be actually performing the procedure, have them inquire. Better yet, you can have the surgeon actually submit a predetermination claim.

Medical: Orthognathic surgery, surgery to reshape jaws, is covered under some medical insurance plans, but not others. Every procedure has a code, and there are many for jaw surgery. Ask your dentist to refer you to an oral surgeon and an orthodontist (the services of both will be required). The oral surgeon can check your coverage for you.

Other options: There are other options to jaw surgery to correct underbites. Orthodontists now have things like tad's that sometimes help avoid surgery. Visit our site for more information : http://www.Aeortho.Com/treatment-options/tads.

Medical necessity: Most medical insurances will not cover elective jaw surgery of any type, as they regard it as an elective /cosmetic procedure. In rare instances, some insurances will cover it, providing the surgeon can document a medical necessity (patient symptoms that severely impact the patient's quality of life from a medical standpoint). Ask your insurance representative if orthognathic surgery is covered.

Depends: On the insurance. I would consult with your provider.
