Almost certain: While there are some biological differences that can come in play, these two products have about the same effect in all and can be used interchangeably. Latanoprost is generic and may be cheaper and some insurance plans will cover it only due to the cost differential.

Generic: In my patient population the name brand latanoprost (xalatan) worked great. Now that it has went generic i continually find patients that it does not work for, or had worked int he past as generic or xalatan. I believe that some of the generics do not work. I find it more and more common, and you can not control this. So I do not recommend generic latanoprost.
